iPad: connect to your PixoShare PC (and what to do when it can't find it)

Written by PixoShare Support

Connect your iPad to your PixoShare PC over Wi-Fi so guests can pick their photos and print, and fix it when the iPad can't find the PC.

Connect

  1. On the PC, open PixoShare, choose your event and click Start event. The iPad only finds a PC whose event is running.

  2. Put the iPad and the PC on the same Wi-Fi. Bring your own router or hotspot: venue Wi-Fi often blocks devices from seeing each other (see Wi-Fi and internet at your event: router, speed and setup).

  3. On the iPad's PixoShare PC tab, tap Allow when iPadOS asks to "find and connect to devices on your local network". PixoShare only uses it to find and talk to your own PixoShare PC.

  4. Tap your PC's name and enter its 4-digit Local sharing PIN.

"No PC found on this Wi-Fi"

Tap Let's fix it on the iPad, or check:

  • Is the event started, and are both on the same Wi-Fi? See steps 1 and 2.

  • Did you tap Don't Allow? See the next section.

  • Did Windows ask about the network? If it's a network you control, such as your own router or hotspot, set it to Private on the PC: Settings → Network & internet → Wi-Fi → your network → Private. Don't do this on public or venue Wi-Fi. You don't need to turn the firewall off.

I tapped "Don't Allow"

iPadOS asks only once. To turn the permission back on:

  1. On the iPad, open Settings, then Privacy & Security (Privacy on iPadOS 15), then Local Network.

  2. Turn on PixoShare.

  3. Go back to PixoShare and tap Search again.

The PIN isn't accepted

The 4-digit PIN is in PixoShare Settings on the PC, on the Online mode tab, under Local sharing PIN. If you change it, click Save settings and enter the new PIN on each iPad: changing it signs every iPad out.

No shared Wi-Fi? Use PixoShare Cloud

On hotel or corporate Wi-Fi that blocks devices from seeing each other, use the PixoShare Cloud tab (see Set up the iPad for an event). It needs internet on the iPad, and on the PC too: the Cloud tab shows only photos that have uploaded.

Guests can't print from a Cloud iPad. If your PC runs the event with Auto print on, the PC still prints every photo (see Printing: set up your printer, and print with more than one, section 8).
