Stuck in the sharing station? How to exit

Written by PixoShare Support

To leave the sharing station, triple-tap the top-left corner of the screen, then enter your exit PIN if you set one.

Leave the station

  1. Tap the very top-left corner of the screen three times, quickly. The spot is invisible; if nothing happens, try again a little faster.

  2. If you set an exit PIN, the Staff exit keypad opens. Type the 4 digits. (It closes again after about 10 seconds without a touch.)

The iPad goes back to the pairing screen. Leaving doesn't disconnect it: to go back, tap your PC on the PixoShare PC tab (and enter its PIN if asked), or pick your event on the PixoShare Cloud tab.

Set an exit PIN for public events

Without an exit PIN, anyone who knows the corner tap can leave the station. Set an exit PIN for any event open to the public.

  • During first setup: on the Exit PIN (optional) page, tap Set a PIN.

  • Any time later: on the pairing screen, tap the gear icon at the top right to open Settings. The Exit PIN card has Set a PIN, or Change PIN and Remove PIN.

There's no default PIN. Each iPad keeps its own, and it's not the same as your PC's Local sharing PIN.

"Wrong PIN. Try again." or forgot the exit PIN

On the Staff exit keypad, tap Forgot PIN?.

iPad connected to your PixoShare PC: tap Use the PC's PIN and type your PC's Local sharing PIN (on the PC: PixoShare Settings, Online mode tab). The PC must be on and reachable. This lets you out and removes the exit PIN.

PixoShare Settings on the PC, Online mode tab, with the Local sharing PIN (a sample PIN here) and the Save settings button marked

iPad on PixoShare Cloud: in your PixoShare dashboard, open Devices, click this iPad's trash icon, then Revoke. Within about half a minute, the iPad goes back to the pairing screen and the exit PIN is removed. Pair it again with a new code from Pair New Device.

Guests keep leaving the app? Turn on Guided Access

PixoShare keeps guests inside the station, but it can't stop someone from swiping up to the iPad's Home Screen. Guided Access, built into the iPad, locks it to one app (see Apple's guide, Use Guided Access on iPhone or iPad).

Set it up once:

  1. On the iPad, open Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access and turn it on.

  2. Tap Passcode Settings and set a Guided Access passcode. It's not the iPad's own passcode, so write it down somewhere other than the iPad.

  3. Also in Passcode Settings, turn on Face ID or Touch ID, in case the passcode is forgotten.

At each event, open PixoShare and start the station. Triple-click the top button (on iPads with a Home button, the Home button), tap Guided Access if a shortcuts menu appears, then tap Start.

To end it, click the same button (Apple's guide says how many times for your iPadOS version), enter the Guided Access passcode or use Face ID or Touch ID, and tap End.

I forgot the Guided Access passcode

PixoShare can't reset this passcode: it belongs to the iPad. If you turned on Face ID or Touch ID for Guided Access, use it to end the session, then set a new passcode under Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access → Passcode Settings. If not, see Apple's Guided Access guide, or contact Apple Support.

Good to know

  • With Guided Access on, the corner triple-tap only takes you to PixoShare's pairing screen. To leave the app, end Guided Access first.

  • After the event ends, the iPad shows This event has ended. with a Choose PC button instead.
