Two or three printers of the same model work side by side: set up each Windows printer queue once, and PixoShare sends each print to a free printer. Start with Printing: set up your printer, and print with more than one for the first one.
1. PixoShare sees printer queues, not boxes
Windows gives each printer a queue, and PixoShare works with queues. Three RX1HS units used one at a time usually share one queue, "DNP DS-RX1HS", and one card. That's fine.
Plug two in at the same time, and Windows usually adds a second queue by itself, "DNP DS-RX1HS (Copy 1)", with nothing to install. Click Set up this printer for it once, and the event wizard offers All connected printers (2).
One photo's copies stay on one printer unless you turn on Settings → Printing → Spread copies across printers and click Save settings.
2. Set up the second queue like a new printer
A new "(Copy 1)" queue starts from PixoShare's defaults: 4x6 photos print right away, but strips aren't cut yet. If you print strips, turn on the 2-inch cut and run the test grid for it too.
Settings belong to the queue, not the unit. Units differ slightly, so if one unit's strips cut a hair off, run the test grid again with that unit plugged in.
3. Name the queues before you set them up
In Windows Printers & scanners → Printer properties, rename the queues, for example "RX1 A" and "RX1 B", and tape the same labels on the units. Do it before setting them up in PixoShare. A queue renamed afterwards shows as Printer not installed: remove that card and set the printer up again.
4. Keep each unit on its usual USB port
If moving a unit to another USB port makes a "(Copy 1)" appear, your driver probably doesn't report the printer's serial number, so Windows ties the queue to the port. Keep each unit on its usual port.
5. Printer not printing or strips not cutting
You see | Fix |
Printer missing from Set up this printer | Install the driver, or click Refresh below the printer list |
No "2inch cut" option in the driver window | Windows is using its generic IPP driver: see the Windows 11 check in Printing: set up your printer, and print with more than one. (There's no "2x6 paper size".) |
Strips print two-up but don't cut | On the strips row, click Open printer settings, enable the cut, and click OK. The row must read custom printer settings saved |
4x6 photos come out cut in half | The cut is on in the printer's Windows defaults. Click Printer settings… on the 4x6 photos row and set 2inch cut to Disable |
A set-up printer is back under Not set up yet, as "(Copy 1)" | It's probably on a different USB port (see section 4). Use the usual port, or set the copy up like any printer |
Not connected, but the printer is on | Check the USB cable. The status refreshes every few seconds |
Out of paper, Paper jam, Printer error or Offline | Reload media, clear the jam, or check power and USB. Waiting prints continue, or have already moved to a second connected printer |
One extra copy after you reloaded paper | When a printer stops for about a minute, its print moves to another, and the first may still print the sheet in its memory. One spare sheet beats a guest waiting |
