Texts not arriving? Why a guest may not get their photos

Written by PixoShare Support

Check whether the text went out, fix the cause, and give the guest another way to get their photos.

Guest waiting right now? Have them pick their photos again and tap QR Code (no number needed), Email, or AirDrop on an Apple device. QR Code and Email need internet. See How guests get their photos: text, email, QR code and AirDrop.

Check whether it went out

  1. In your dashboard, open the event and click the Messages tab.

  2. Under Text Message Status, check the guest's badge:

    • Delivered: the carrier confirmed it reached the phone.

    • Pending: on its way; delivery isn't confirmed yet.

    • Failed: the carrier or phone network refused it. An Error line gives the reason when we have one.

  3. On your PixoShare PC, the Sharing queue card shows texts still waiting there. Click the retry arrow on a failed row, or Retry failed (N) to retry them all.

The PC's Sharing queue card, with a Failed text row (its retry arrow on the right) and the Retry failed (1) button marked

The number was typed wrong

The keypad already shows +1 and takes exactly 10 digits, so a leading "1" typed by the guest makes the number invalid. With a PixoShare PC connection the row turns Failed on the PC (even though the guest saw Sent!); with PixoShare Cloud the guest sees Something went wrong. Ask them to send again without the leading 1.

The guest doesn't have a US number

PixoShare supports text delivery to US numbers only, and the keypad has no country picker. Guests without a US number can use Email, QR Code or AirDrop.

The guest once replied STOP

A guest who ever replied STOP to a PixoShare text won't get PixoShare texts again, at any event. The row shows Failed with code 21610. They can use Email or QR Code.

The carrier filtered it

Carriers and spam filters sometimes delay or block texts, and we can't see or change those filters. PixoShare retries short carrier hiccups by itself a few times. If the row still shows Failed or stays Pending, share another way.

The internet dropped at the event

  • PixoShare PC connection: the guest sees Queued, and the PC sends the text by itself once the internet is back.

  • PixoShare Cloud connection: the guest sees Couldn't connect — try again in a moment and sends again once the iPad is online.

  • Offline mode on the PC: Text and Email don't show. Guests use the offline gallery or AirDrop.

The guest doesn't see a Text button

Edit the event, open the Branding step and make sure Text is on under Sharing Methods.

Good to know

  • Each text has a link that opens the guest's photos. The photos aren't attached.

  • Every text fits in one message (160 characters), so a long event name is shortened and emoji are left out. The Sharing step shows a Preview; pick Standard to leave the name out.

  • Guest texts are included under fair use (see Plans and prices: what's included). Another share request to the same number can send another text, so check the status before asking the guest to send again.

  • A guest who switches to Email should check spam or junk too.
